Justified - "The Man Behind the Curtain"

My review of episode seven of season three of Justified, "The Man Behind the Curtain," is up at spinetingler.

Check that shit out HERE.

Stephen Tobolowsky (Ned Ryerson from Groundhog Day, Sammy Jankis from Memento) and Jim Beaver (Ellsworth from Deadwood, Vietnam Joe from John From Cincinnati) both had decent roles in this episode.

Here's hoping they show up again toot-sweet.

Old Ghosts by Nik Korpon

My review of Nik Korpon's Old Ghosts is up at spinetingler.

Check that shit out HERE.

I may not be much of a short story guy, but I'm certainly a convert to the novella way these days.

This beast certainly uses the short word count to its advantage, that's for fucking sure.

Wolf Tickets by Ray Banks

My review of Wolf Tickets by Ray Banks is up at spinetingler.

Check that shit out HERE.

Just when you thought we were out of good book titles, Banks pulls Wolf Tickets from a Tom Waits interview.

Best title since Anthony Neil Smith's Hogdoggin'.

Bullhead by Michael R. Roskam

My review of writer-director Michael R. Roskam's Bullhead is up at spinetingler.

Check that shit out HERE.

The Nerd doesn't feel right about posting two reviews in one day either (and on a weekend no less!), but I'm mainly doing this for the sake of my Twin Cities readers.

Bullhead will be leaving the MN Film Arts Theater of St. Anthony Main by this upcoming Friday.

So get on this one, Minnesota crime fans!

Rampart by Oren Moverman

My review Oren Moverman's Rampart is up at spinetingler.

Check that shit out HERE.

If a poster featuring Woody Harrelson and Ned Beatty isn't enough to make you click the link, lemme tell you that this beast was also co-written by James Ellroy.

Justified - "When the Guns Come Out"

My review of the new Justified episode, "When the Guns Come Out," is up at spinetingler.

Check it out HERE.

This is the first episode this season that didn't completely hit for me.

Not saying it was terrible, just not fucking awesome like the rest of the season has been. Hell, it's not even "C," just not an "A."

He's the co-creator of Eastbound & Down and writer-director of Observe and Report.

It's called "Celebrating Misanthropy" and you can check it out right HERE.

How fucking awesome is that poster?

Justified - "The Devil You know"

My review of "The Devil You Know," the latest episode of Justified, is up at spinetingler.

Check that shit out HERE.

I'm really happy with the big-ass cast of villains they have assembled on this show so far this season.

Any time they're not on Raylan they can dip into a well that includes Limehouse, Quarles, Dickie, Boyd, Duffy...man, so many good foes!

The Cold, Cold Ground by Adrian McKinty

My review of Adrian McKinty's The Cold, Cold Ground is up at spinetingler.

This is the first in a trilogy of novels featuring Detective Sergeant Sean Duffy.

Yeah, the Nerd can't fucking wait to check out the next two whenever those sons of bitches drop.

Justified - "Harlan Roulette"

My review of "Harlan Roulette," the latest episode of Justified, is up at spinetingler.

Check it out HERE.

Another fine episode directed by Jon Avnet. The roulette scene was particularly well-done. Hope that guy gets to direct a decent movie some time - sucks he's been doing good TV but directing Al Pacino crime vehicles for the big screen. Shame.
